Sarah and Jim Ryan began building swimming pools in 1964 for Lexington, Kentucky residents and commercial properties. It was during the ensuing years that Mrs. Ryan recognized the growing need for a company that specialized in servicing and supplying the rapidly rising number of swimming pools in this region. It was with this vision, that Sarah, in 1976, opened the doors to Swim Pro Service and Supply. Over the next two decades, Mrs. Ryan grew the company to be the leading pool service company in Central Kentucky.
Ray Parker began working for Swim Pro while still studying at Lexington Catholic High School. After leaving the company to attend college at Michigan State University, Ray returned to his hometown of Lexington and back to work, once again, for Swim Pro. It was not until 1997, when Mrs. Ryan decided it was time for retirement, that Mr. Parker purchased Swim Pro. To this day, Ray has continued the rich tradition of providing quality service at a fair price to all Fayette and surrounding counties.
Ray has also continued the commitment of hiring and training conscientious, friendly employees who possess, like himself, a strong work ethic. All Swim Pro Service Technician’s are APSP certified (Association of Pool and Spa Professionals). Ray, himself, is a Master Plumber and certified in HVAC, Scuba Diving, and APSP. Also worthy of note, Mr. Parker is the only factory authorized warranty representative in Central Kentucky for Hayward products, and the sole licensed distributor for AccuTabs in the state of Kentucky.
It almost goes without saying that with forty years experience in the swimming pool service industry, there is little that Raymond Parker has not seen or experienced. It is with this vast knowledge and hands on experience that Ray is able to effectively communicate with and teach his Service Tech’s the nuances that come with the industry and prepares them not only for the unexpected but gives them the confidence to troubleshoot and solve problems on-site, the first time, thus maintaining the level of satisfaction his customers have come to expect.
Mr. Parker also takes great pride in his warehouse’s vast inventory. Knowing all too well how quickly technology changes and what was usual and customary in the 1990’s with regard to pumps, motors, impellers, filtration systems, and so on, are virtually obsolete today. However, through intuitiveness and foresight, he has managed to keep a separate inventory of those hard to find, almost nonexistent items, making Swim Pro the "go to” place for many Pool Maintenance Managers in the region.
Anyone considering Swim Pro as their personal pool service provider should be aware that Swim Pro Service and Supply has never advertised. Mr. Parker is a staunch believer that word-of-mouth is the best and only form of advertisement necessary to succeed. Mr. Parker has managed to secure the business, year after year, of Central Kentucky horse farms, a state Governor, physicians, attorneys, hotels, motels, country clubs, apartments, condominiums, neighborhood associations, universities, YMCA’s and even former UK basketball players, to mention just a few…impressive to most, daunting to our competitors.
